Prime Minister NODA's BLOG

September 13, 2012, at the 31st Memorial Service for Firefighters Who Lost Their Lives on Duty

"There are people who, responding to the Great East Japan Earthquake, were helping people evacuate or working to close floodgates as the massive tsunami approached, or were engaged in guard activity over an extended period, and lost their precious lives. There are also people who lost their lives in unexpected accidents while on duty while helping people evacuate or conducting rescue operations during the torrential rains of typhoon no.12 or while engaged in emergency responses to people suffering acute medical crises. I express my sincere respect and appreciation for the strong pride and sense of mission that all these people demonstrated firsthand and for their deep compassion for others."
