Prime Minister NODA's BLOG

August 24, 2012 at the Budget Committee of the House of Councillors, in response to a question from Councillor Hiroe Makiyama

"I consider pacifism, which is one of the important pillars of Japan's Constitution, to be a major principle underpinning the development of post-war Japan. The public is intensely aware of this importance. I believe that in order to enable the Japanese people and people around the world to enjoy the benefits brought about by peace, it is necessary to promote diplomacy that contributes to the stability of the international community. With elements of instability still remaining within the international community, I would like to set as a fundamental element the promotion of diplomatic and security policies that actively embrace the creation of world peace."
