"Yesterday I had the pleasure to meet in person our friends who conducted 'Operation Tomodachi.' I have always made a case that the Japan-U.S. alliance is the cornerstone of Japanese diplomacy. Through talking with our U.S. friends yesterday, I reconfirmed my strong belief that the Japan-U.S. alliance must be unshakeable, and indeed, that it is unshakeable."
